The biological treatment plant, due to its specific design, is resistant to excess wastewater, overloads, temperature fluctuations, and temporary interruptions in wastewater inflow, such as during vacations. Therefore, typical applications for SBR treatment plants also include small sedimentation units, recreational and sports complexes, hotels, and tourist centers.

The wastewater treatment technology using activated sludge in batch systems (SBR) is based on sequential reactors. The treatment process occurs cyclically and consists of several phases.

Phases of wastewater treatment in a biological treatment plant:

  • Preliminary Phase – The process of decanting the clarified, treated wastewater is completed. Raw wastewater flows into the reactor.
  • Mixing and Filling Phase – Raw wastewater continues to flow into the reactor, where alternating aerobic and anaerobic conditions are created. The load on the activated sludge increases with the incoming amount of wastewater. Through the control of the aeration device, the processes of nitrification and denitrification occur simultaneously.
  • Final Phase – The end of the technological processes related to treatment, as the level of wastewater in the tank approaches its maximum.
  • Sedimentation Phase – The operation of the aeration and mixing device is halted. The sedimentation of sludge and clarification of wastewater begin.
  • Decantation and Excess Sludge Removal Phase – After the sedimentation process is completed, the activated sludge accumulates at the bottom layer, exposing the layer of clarified wastewater. Pumping or static decantation of treated wastewater occurs. After the process is finished, the excess sludge is removed.

SBR Biological Treatment Plant – Full: Technical Specifications

Advantages of the treatment plant:

  • The safe design of the device has been achieved by eliminating moving parts. Therefore, no electric pumps are used in the construction of the SBR; instead, a monolithic tank made of polyethylene (PE) ensures the tightness of the equipment.
  • The SBR Biological Treatment Plant has the CE mark – it has been tested by a notified testing body for compliance with the PN – EN 12566-3 +A1:2009 standard – therefore, our treatment plants ensure high purification efficiency confirmed by research.
  • Low sensitivity to power outages – In the event of a power failure, the control system adjusts the treatment phases according to the volume of wastewater flowing into the treatment plant and activates the appropriate phase based on the accumulated wastewater.
  • The treatment process is automated – allowing for control over the purification cycle, and the control system automatically adjusts to the volume of incoming wastewater.
  • The ability to set the treatment plant to standby mode – allows for the maintenance of the treatment process even in the absence of incoming wastewater for up to 2 weeks.
  • Easy and cost-effective expansion – Due to its modular design, expansion involves adding an additional tank without the need to replace all components of the treatment plant.
  • The treatment in the SBR biological wastewater treatment plant occurs without the need for biopreparations.
  • Long lifespan and reliability – The PE tanks are made monolithically and additionally reinforced with steel inside the tank.
  • The treatment plant does not require a large area of land for installation.
  • The SBR system allows for the discharge of treated effluent, for example, into a drainage ditch.
